Autumn in the Land of Agriculture and Academia

In a part of the world where you can't leave your home without running into a fellow student or professor, and leaving town is sure to include at least a few minutes behind a tractor or combine, Autumn is a wonderful time. This is a very rich fertile place, full of people who want to share their knowledge. Their knowledge about the ways to use the produce they produce, or their deep understanding of biochemistry, either way sharing is a huge part of day to day life here. I don't know if it is the part of the world I come from, or just the fact that I come from a city, but I have never really experienced this way of being before. People are more than happy to help you in the grocery store, telling you how to use parsnips, or where to find the best warm socks in town. The strangest part is no one seems to feel put out by having to converse with a stranger, and the speak to you as if they have known you forever.

This fall we had a ball learning about our new life here. We learned to can, and all about the fresh produce that grows here.

We explored some of the different events around the area.

And now we are starting to learn about the different weather we have here.
